Hi Phil did you ever find out how to change the regions, I have the same model and the same problem.

Try this:
To convert this player to Multi-Region
1. Press the Menu button on your remote control
2. Press the 1 button on your remote control
3. Press the 6 button on your remote control
4. Press the 7 button on your remote control
5. Press 1 for Region 1, 2 for Region 2, and so on, or alternatively Mute button on your remote control for All Regions
