1. Switch on the player
2; Pop open the CD compartment
3. Enter the following code (using the remote): 2812
4. Highlight the region
5. Change to 9 (for Multi-region) using the 'Enter' button
6. Hit 'Clear' to exit
7. Pop in a DVD and enjoy!

Looks like Éuropean models of FX810 can be made multiregion but US models not.
I have found and tried several methods on a US FX810 with no success, now starting to believe the statement made by Justin@UH in [AV Forums]
"There is NO handset hack for this model. It can only be hacked by a firmware chip change (major SMT soldering, disassembley, etc), its not worth bothering in this day and age."
True, it´s not worth the trouble, but if I just can find this chip, I got a screwdriver and an SMT soldering station :-)

I have an improvised way to watch most dvds (of various regions) in my sony dvp fx810
I turn on the dvd
put the cd in
then press 1 and enter repeatedly. By doing so the dvd player starts playing the dvd starting at chapter 1. Sometimes one can enter into the menu, sometimes one can't. In some cases you are able to watch the film but the remote buttons (such as fast foward and rewind) do not work for that specific film. Again it is an improvised way, but I've been managing to watch many films this way.

well i think that trying to unlock american version(region 1)of sony player is kind of useless because these players are NTSC mode only(i guess,but not sure)and regardless of region you will have after hacking to multiregional it will be still NTSC.and you need also PAL mode.

You can buy the Japanese version of
SONY DVP-FX930 from www.samstores.com
that has multi region and NTSC/PAL output.
It is a little bit more expensive though.
I am not aware of any unlock codes for any SONY DVP
players.

Samir, the following should work
1. Switch on the DVD player
2. Open the disc tray (with no disc inside)
3. Using the remote, tap in the following code - 2812
4. Highlight the region code that appears
5. Change the region to 9 for Multi-Region by pressing the 'Enter' button
6. Press 'Clear' to exit the region menu

Okay folks this is what you need.
1 The original remote
2 The serial number
3 DVD you want to watch (NOT Region 1).
4 The DVP-FX810
5 Trashbag
Throw 1,2, and 4 into 5. Buy another DVD player in the same region as 3.

Só a Sony tem estes numeros e nega a fornece-los, num mundo globalizado jamais poderia supor que ainda existiria este bloqueio. Sempre tive aparelhos Sony ( fui dono de uma produtora de video durante vinte anos ) 90% dos meus aparelhos eram desta marca.
